Sep 24, 2015 LB Live After 5 – Funk Fest Edition Recap
In association with local bars and musicians, Downtown Long Beach hosts a Live After 5 event every second Thursday of the month. For the month of September, they dedicated their event to the annual Funk Fest which will take place at the Queen Mary next year. After work, I rushed over with my co-workers to check out the live music, live painting, and to quench my thirst with some Sculpin IPA at the beer garden. The live performances were split into 4 different spots. I went to the “A-Lot” where Slapbak, DJ Gazoo, and Sure Fire Soul performed their live sets in front of a DabsMyla and Craola art piece. Slapbak mixed songs from Busta Rhymes and Rage Against the Machine with some funk and it sounded pretty awesome.
