Inside the Paint

The Google Cultural institute has been digitizing works of art at incredible hi-res for all to view online for a while now. And with a recent project with the Royal museums of Fine Arts of Belgium they’ve taken the viewing of a painting into a new realm of 360. Using Google Cardboard you can immerse yourself inside Bruegel’s The Fall of the Rebel Angels. As an added bonus for museum goers, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium will actually have a special room, the “Bruegel Box,” a small room with wall-to-wall projections showing gigapixel renderings of three paintings.

In partnership with the Royal museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, the Google Cultural Institute has designed an immersive experience which lets you explore The Fall of the Rebel Angels (1562) like never before.
Detail by detail, the painting comes to life in front of your eyes : mingle with Bruegel’s creatures.
