Jan 10, 2014 You Can Always Go Downtown
Brett Martin recently penned an interesting article for GQ which documents the revival of Downtown Los Angeles, entitled, “America’s Next Great City Is Inside L.A.” He looks at the reshaping of the once abandoned heart of the city over the last 15-20 years, a trend which seems to be steadily ramping up in the last couple of years, with an explosion of enough hip eateries, art venues, and cutting-edge retail operations to turn Downtown LA into a real destination. Arts District pioneers such as gourmet hotdog spot Wurstkuche, ex-pro-skater run pizzeria Pizzanista, and fashion label Apolis all get credit where it’s due, as does the much-heralded, and long-awaited new Ace Hotel development, the latest from the popular chain of hip boutique hotels. All in all, it’s a fascinating read about an exciting time for a once great city – a city which seems to be right on the cusp of revitalizing so thoroughly that it’s beyond doubt. With our home base in Long Beach we’re in a prime position to take advantage of LA’s recent renaissance.
