Oct 12, 2012 Ain’t a Thing
In about 1998, hip-hop fans might recall, Jermaine Dupri and Jay-Z told us that “Money Ain’t A Thing.” Which is to say, they thought they had such a fiscal surplus, hard currency was more or less completely inconsequential to them. It wasn’t a very good song, and it didn’t seem sincere either. Interestingly, this insightful commentary from British philosopher/Buddhist Alan Watts reveals that if you take that song title to heart, and actually ask yourself “What if money was no object?” you might manage to spend your life doing things you actually like; as opposed to wasting your time doing things you hate. What would you do with your life if money wasn’t a factor? Mr. Watts says, “forget the money,” you should do what you want regardless of money. This definitely speaks to the entrepreneurial journey we are so focused on here. Fascinating stuff.
