Jul 28, 2016 Alaskan Fishing Trip
Last week was my first time visiting Alaska and deep sea fishing. I was lucky enough to go on this Shelter Lodge fishing trip because there’s a long waitlist and someone ended up dropping out last minute. I ended up going with my dad and uncles on this week long trip not knowing what to expect. On Sunday, we arrived in the city of Juneau and they take you on a boat cruise to Shelter Island where they have a lodge set up with friendly staff and captains on board. We woke up early in the morning everyday and fished the whole day till 4:30pm. The captains take you out on their boat and teach you how to fish for salmon, black cod, halibut, and rockfish. We also got to throw out nets to catch shrimp and crabs. After a long day of fishing, the cooks prepare a buffet every night and it was probably the best seafood dish I’ve ever had! I really recommend this trip for anyone who wants to visit Alaska and fish because you get to bring your big catch back home.
