Dec 14, 2012 Architecture for Dogs: Miami Photo Recap
Not only did we launch our Becomb venture with Levi Maestro last week, but we also launched our Architecture for Dogs project in Miami, in the midst of Design Miami, Art Basel, and the many other concurrent satellite events and exhibitions. As you may have read in our earlier posts about the project, we teamed up with talented designer Kenya Hara who dreamed of reinventing architecture for dogs, from scratch. Then he handpicked wonderfully talented architects from around the world to realize his concept in their own way. Kenya Hara and several of the contributing architects were kind enough to join us in Miami, to launch the project during America’s biggest art & design festival.
In short, the unveiling of this original architectural design exercise was a huge success, better than we could have possibly hoped for. The exhibition began with a press preview, then a Design Talk at Design Miami with Kenya Hara and Asif Khan, and a lovely private reception for staff & architects. The following day included the public unveiling, and a thoroughly enjoyable VIP party, in celebration of the project. It was pleasure spending time with the creative geniuses behind MVRDV, Torafu Architects, Reiser + Umemoto, and also Sou Fujimoto. We also have to give great credit to Imprint’s very own Anne Ishii, as well as Mizuho Morita, Haruka Misawa, and Yuka Okazaki of Hara Design Institute, Doug Roche of Camron PR, along with a huge amount of support from Shetal Amin, Inez Suen, Rudy Duboue, Rafael “R-man” Manresa, and our awesome VIP event sponsors DeliverLean, OnJuice and Perrier. The press reception has been absolutely tremendous, with features in top publications, including The NY Times, Time, Wallpaper, Dwell, and Surface, just to name a few. Oh, in case you were wondering, yes, quite a few dogs stopped by during the Open Hours for Dogs, to investigate these creations in-person, or in-dog, if you will.
Stay tuned for some video footage from this exhibition in the new few weeks.
