A serious push for girls to join the tech realm is just beginning and some of the things that I have seen make it quite promising. Here are 3 that show me that the future for girls in tech will be bright.
1. Goldie Blox
Construction toys for girls, these construction sets geared toward girls are great, like tinker toys meets erector sets. These toys teach girls basic engineering concepts and allow the girls to reinvent and create their own designs.
2. Dot.
Dot is a new series on the Sprout network. The Executive producer is Randi Zuckerberg who’s the sister of that other famous Zuckerberg. The story line takes Dot and her best friend Hal on adventures with their tablet and takes them on all kinds of adventures that have them engaging with technology.
3.Secret Code
A customizable children’s book where the main character meets challenges based around coding and technology. Customizable is the key here. Using an app you can design the main character to look more like your child. Along with the book there will be a corresponding app that helps your child begin to learn the basics of coding.
