Oct 05, 2012 Great Scott
Ted Schilowitz of RED Digital Cinema was one of the Featured Speakers at our What Price Video? conference at Long Beach Museum of Art, last year. It was fascinating to hear how their digital cameras had revolutionized some aspects of movie-making. We also viewed snippets from major blockbusters shot on their tech, which was nothing short of impressive. Now, famed director Ridley Scott has weighed in on the topic, clearly ruling in favor of RED. Check out the video. Scott is one of my favorite directors – mostly because of Blade Runner, even though I’m a fan of the majority of his work (including Prometheus, which was shot with RED).
In the video, Scott mentions a new project he produced, called Loom, a short movie directed by his son Luke Scott. The slick science fiction story stars Giovanni Ribisi and Jellybean Howie, and was shot on RED too. Since it serves as a great promotional tool for the cameras, RED have released the entire short movie online.
