I’m no fan of flying, but click here, turn on the sound and try not to get worked up over the retirement of Japan Airlines’ entire fleet of 747s. If you still feel nothing, check out the “Arigato, Jumbo” photo gallery (this is necessary either way for the ’70s-era uniforms) and then contemplate the “Memories of JAL 747 Family” memorial sports towel, among other souvenirs.
Next weekend, the last JAL 747 to fly overseas makes a turnaround to Guam. The overnight trip includes talk-backs with the crew, a touch and go landing, and photo ops in the cockpit before the flight back to Narita. It’s called The Final Touch Down…
