Is forensic literature a thing? Last night I went to a book release event celebrating the work of H.T. Tsiang, an uncompromising self-published novelist whose works have been uncovered and republished by indie house Kaya Press. And China Has Hands was originally released in 1937 and provides a laundryman’s view of New York’s Chinatown. I haven’t read the new edition edited by Floyd Cheung, but the readings I heard suggest a lowbrow version of Fyodor Dostoevsky, John Kennedy Toole, and Irma Vep
