Jun 19, 2013 Long Beach: Work in Progress – Video 3 of 3
Has it really been eight weeks since Imprint’s Long Beach: Work in Progress conference took place at the historic and long-shuttered Edison Theatre?
Time flies, yet it was always our intention that its message of understanding and growing local history and culture would reach the entire city. We have also hoped to inspire members of other communities to look within for culture to cultivate and build upon. To make these goals happen, we have been releasing a series of short videos. The first two were a teaser and a statement.
The final installment focuses on the event’s guest speakers. It surveys the panels, which included the following:
• Architecture – The works of Case Study House architect Edward A. Killingsworth presented by authors Cara Mullio and Jennifer M. Volland.
• Food – Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Jonathan Gold.
• Music – The Vandals’ Joe Escalante, T.S.O.L.’s Jack Grisham, Dengue Fever’s Chhom Nimol and Zac Holtzman.
• Skateboarding – Current and former pros Chad Tim Tim and Justin Reynolds, cinematographer Ricki Bedenbaugh, shoe designer Paul Kwon.
It also touches on the keynote by John Jay of W+K Garage and round table conducted by jeffstaple of Staple Design.
Sound impressive? It was. Watch below, and please share.
