Jul 26, 2012 One word : ROBOTS
If you’ve never heard of ASIMO then you have definitely been living in some black hole across the other side of the universe. ASIMO, Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, is an AMAZING robot project developed by Honda in 1986 and is continually evolving at an incredibly frightening rate. I remember watching videos when engineers were first so ecstatic that they were able to get two robotic legs (that were connected to thick cables, mind you) to jump and mimic the walking steps of a human in place. Fast-forward 26 years later and what you have is a robot that can mimic virtually every basic human movement on their own (and on uneven surfaces), comprehend and respond to basic commands, and can even recognize individual faces. MIND-BLOW-ING. Check out the video below for yourself. It’s quite long, but trust me, you’ll be amazed throughout the entire clip.
Also, to further blow your mind into a million pieces of awesome, check out this random clip I found (from 2010! 2 years ago!) of a robotic face that resembles a human face to the “T” — pretty sure your mind just EXPLODED….but I’m also pretty sure you just realized we are THAT much closer to Skynet, AKA you are freaking. the. eff. out. Very cool robot though…
