William C. Price originally built Long Beach’s Psychic Temple back in 1905. It served as the headquarters for his Society of New or Practical Psychology, a.k.a. The Holy Kiss Society. The good times didn’t last long, and by 1908, Price had filed suit against his own followers, in a dispute over cash. He’d eventually end up in jail, but not before one of his legal foes purchased the Psychic Temple for just shy of $3K. At that point, it was rebranded as the American Hotel. Fast forward 100 years, and the historical landmark building is set to become the new home for our friends at interTrend Communications. But first, it needs a little sprucing up, which is being handled by the capable JR Van Dijs Builders & Developers. You can learn more about this fascinating redevelopment project at the Psychic Temple website.
