May 23, 2014 Shigeru Ban Emergency Shelters
Architecture For Dogs contributing architect Shigeru Ban was awarded the prestigious Pritzker Prize this year. The accomplished Japanese architect has become very well known for his advances in temporary housing for disasters, used around the world, including Japan, Rwanda, and many more far-flung places. Ban has been experimenting with paper tubes as a sustainable building resource for many years now, and his innovative ideas have gained lots of attention since winning the Pritzker Prize. And on top of championing social causes and truly creating structures for average people, he also has a wonderful sense of humor. This great talk from TEDxTokyo highlights some of his biggest recent projects, and it’s nothing short of inspiring. Enjoy!
