Health workers trying to combat the Cholera outbreak in Haiti are using local cellular networks to send out free text messages to those in affected areas, giving them tips on how to avoid infection and telling them what symptoms to look out for. Text messaging and GPS is also allowing health workers to create real-time maps of the outbreak by aggregating geo-tagged tweets and text messages, and the locations of clean water sources. (link)
