I’m quite the sci-fi fanboy, really, although I don’t think I wear it on my sleeve. I’ve never been to Comicon, and you won’t catch me masquerading as a Jedi, but I definitely grew up on Star Wars, Dr. Who, and Isaac Asimov books. Thanks, Dad! I do read and watch other stuff, but when I just want pure entertainment, I almost always return to sci-fi. Recently I read and enjoyed The Martian, a novel by Andy Weir. I won’t give away the plot, but I will say I enjoyed the way the book was written. It had an irreverent, light-hearted take on some pretty intense events. I’d only just filed the e-book away, when they announced The Martian, the movie, starring Matt Damon and a bunch of talented folks. Stoked!
